Hexafluoropropylene is an organic compound with a structural formula of CF3CF=CF2, a colorless, almost odorless, incombustible gas. The melting point is -156.2°C, the boiling point is -30.5°C, the relative density is 1.583 (-40°C/4°C), and the CAS number is 116-15-4. Slightly soluble in ethanol and ether. Tetrafluoroethylene undergoes high-temperature cracking, and then undergoes deacidification, drying, compression, crude distillation, freezing, degassing and rectification to obtain a finished product of hexafluoropropylene. In case of high heat, the internal pressure of the container will increase and there is a danger of cracking and explosion. The container can be cooled with mist of water, and if possible, the container can be moved from the fire scene to an open place. The harmful combustion products are carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, and hydrogen fluoride. When in contact with the skin, it is easy to cause frostbite. Hexafluoropropylene may be harmful to the environment, and special attention should be paid to the pollution of the atmosphere. Fluorinated hydrocarbons are relatively stable in the lower atmosphere, but can be decomposed by the more energetic ultraviolet rays in the upper atmosphere. Hexafluoropropylene is used as a raw material for fluororubber, fluoroplastics, fluorosulfonic acid ion exchange membrane, fluorocarbon oil, and perfluoropropylene oxide. It can prepare a variety of fluorine-containing fine chemical products, pharmaceutical intermediates, fire-extinguishing agent heptafluoropropane, etc., and can also prepare fluorine-containing polymer materials. As raw materials for the preparation of fluorosulfonic acid ion exchange membranes, fluorocarbon oils and perfluoropropylene oxide. Storage precautions: Store in a cool, ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat sources. The storage temperature should not exceed 30°C. It should be stored separately from easily (combustible) combustibles and oxidants, and avoid mixed storage. The storage area should be equipped with leakage emergency treatment equipment. Incompatible materials: strong oxidizers, flammable or combustible materials.
